About Meli Review

Not the original Melic Review. The melicreview.com domain previously hosted The Melic Review, a poetry journal edited by C.E. Chaffin (1999–2008, now closed). The current editorial publication is a separate team that acquired the lapsed domain in 2026; we are not C.E. Chaffin, not affiliated with the original journal, and not a continuation of its editorial mission. The historic 27-issue archive is preserved on this site as URL stubs only — no copyrighted poetry, essays, or editorial content from the original journal appears here.

What this site is

Meli Review is an editorial directory of student contests — literary, art, STEM, music, debate, and history — plus editorial coverage of the EdTech tools students use to prepare for and participate in those contests.

We find the contests, read the rules, check the dates, and write the editorial that helps students, parents, teachers, and school counselors figure out which competitions are worth a student's time and which aren't. Coverage is organized by the contest itself (deep-dive articles per major competition), by grade level (primary, middle, high school, undergraduate), and by topical guides (how to prep, how to read contest rules, first-time-contest checklists).

Who we publish for

About the editorial team

Articles are published under the collective byline "The editors of Meli Review." This site does not name individual authors. The editorial team comprises writers with backgrounds in classroom teaching, contest coordination, college counseling, and EdTech industry analysis.

How we make money

Meli Review sells guest-post placements to EdTech companies — writing platforms, art-portfolio platforms, scholarship-matching services, college-prep tools, math/science learning platforms — that want to reach the student, parent, and educator audience we cultivate. Guest posts are clearly labeled.

We do not accept paid contest placement (contest editorial coverage is independent), and we do not run affiliate links on contest reviews (one wrong contest recommendation can cost a student a year of preparation).

For schools, educators, and contest organizers

If you coordinate contests, run a school contest program, or recommend competitions to students, we'd love your input. Send corrections, additions to our directory, or stories about how a contest has shaped your students through our contact form.

For EdTech companies

Interested in guest-post placement? Contact us through the contact form with your platform's name and audience focus. Editorial standards apply — content must be useful to our reader audience first; promotional placement that doesn't help students/parents/teachers/educators is rejected.

About the historic archive

The original Melic Review (1999–2008) was a respected online poetry journal that published 27 issues featuring work by W.D. Snodgrass, Dara Wier, Josh Corey, Camille Dungy, Bob Hicok, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, and many others — all under the editorship of C.E. Chaffin. That journal closed in 2008; its original site went offline approximately 2026-04-04. We respect the original journal's editorial legacy — which is one reason we are explicit that the current site is a SEPARATE editorial publication, not a continuation.

The 27-issue archive is preserved at /archive/ as URL stubs that retain backlink-target continuity. No copyrighted content from the original journal is republished on the current site. The original content remains accessible through the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
