student contests · edtech editorial · educator outreach
Meli Review covers the contests students can actually enter — literary, art, STEM, music, debate, and history. We find the contests, read the rules, check the dates, and write the editorial that helps students, parents, and teachers figure out which are worth the time.
Coverage is organized by the contest itself, by the student's grade level, and by subject area. Where a contest is excellent, we say so. Where it's pay-to-play without academic value, we say that too.
The melicreview.com domain previously hosted The Melic Review, an online poetry journal edited by C.E. Chaffin from 1999 to 2008. The journal closed to submissions in 2008; the original site went offline in 2026. The 27 historic issues are preserved on this site as URL stubs — the original poetry, essays, and fiction are NOT republished here (those works remain under their original authors' and publishers' copyright). For the original content, the Internet Archive Wayback Machine preserves the historic site.
