Jim Sallis — Poetry, Issue XXVII (Final Issue)

From Issue XXVII of The Melic Review

Jim Sallis (1944–2026) contributed poetry to both Issue XIX and the final issue of The Melic Review.

Best known as a crime novelist — his 2005 novel Drive was adapted into the acclaimed 2011 film — Sallis was equally accomplished as a poet, translator, and musicologist. A key figure in the 1960s New Wave science fiction movement, he received a lifetime achievement award from Bouchercon in 2007.

His presence in both an early and the final issue of the journal traces the arc of The Melic Review's entire run.
