Do you remember?
We were lost in the forest
before the elders found us.
At night we slept on leaves
so large they nearly swallowed us.

Do you remember?
You defended your city against us.
We met and clashed,
our armor flashing, blinding us.
I looked at your face and saw my own,
could not bear to kill you.

Do you remember?
Inside Coit Tower
watched the man about to turn the corner
the girl walking down the other street.
We predicted their meeting
before each knew the other existed.

Do you remember?
I was everywhere,
have been everyone —
even you...
