I want to jackrabbit the doorknobs,
daddy the walls,
lubricate the linoleum:
I am hungry!

I am a black widow,
tireless as a self-winding toy.
I slaughtered my mate
to come looking for you.

I have eaten the flashlight
and emptied the vegetable bin
of carrots and cucumbers —
but I'm not satisfied.

My hinge is oiled, my toenails
painted fire engine-red —
my nutcracker legs
twitch in the air!
